[ she'd hoped to get a little more time to deal with suddenly remembering a whole lot of details from back at home - a day, maybe, or at least a few hours - but lt. southey's messages and body being discovered had put that on hold. she still needs to head over to where he'd died to check out what had happened, what had kept him from reaching the grav pouches before the jump, and check in with others around the ship, but this comes first because she knows clint will want to know what they're dealing with, and she wants to discuss with him here what they didn't have time to back home. she wants to figure out how this works, exactly, because she knows she didn't leave and come back, but one step at a time.
she gets to the oxygen gardens about ten minutes later, figures out how he got up to where he is and how to get there herself in another five. she'll climb up if he doesn't want to move, but stays put until she knows for sure he doesn't want to join her on the ground. (that can probably be determined within the first thirty seconds.) ]
[He spends that time going back over the more recent posts on the network; the lists. The threats. That death. Knows that even though there's only so much information he can gather from what's already been recorded over the past six months, he can't ignore any of it. He wouldn't have made it this far if he ignore the finer details.
When Natasha arrives, Clint doesn't waste time in tucking his device away, his equipment slung loosely over his shoulder as he makes his way back to the ground again. It takes him a few minutes, despite being familiar enough with the route he'd taken to get up there. But soon enough he's back on solid ground again, already offering up a grin, however short-lived it is.]

[ a half-hearted smile is offered in return, but it fades about as quickly as it appeared. she's dressed in her SHIELD jumpsuit as opposed to the one provided by the tranquility, and it's tricked out with her usual array of weapons. even in her downtime, even when she's sleeping, she's usually equipped with something, but since she can't depend on being able to replenish her ammo here, she hasn't been keeping everything on her.
she's not sure why being so heavily armed is a comfort right now. it's not as if weapons did much to help hotspur. ]

Six months. [It's why he can't begrudge her those precautions. Walking around, clearly armed, may not work well back home, but this ship has already proven itself dangerous. Hotspur's death is only one small piece of the overall picture, and it's only a matter of time before more is revealed.]

The closest thing to anything like that was a few months back. People were getting lost in the hallways, and there was a search party sent out. I was a part of it. Eventually, the party got separated. I was paired off with another woman - Re-l Mayer - and we ended up finding a room.

And there were two skeletons on the floor, in the jumpsuits they provide everyone with, along with a plate of food and a note inviting us to 'rest for a while'. We were let out and the hallways went back to normal, but a couple months later, the messages from the red smiley started.
