[ It's true that Rosella's been off-radar. Mostly in the infirmary, for those who care to look, quiet and made small at the request of a friend. There's a still-healing cut on her cheek and bruising, likely, but there's no visible bandaging when she comes to visit Natasha. Just two short knocks to the door, her arms at her sides.
When the room opens, Rosella's lack of expression is— obvious, and of the norm, but she gives a short tip of her chin. ]
[ natasha's been off-radar herself except to check in with clint. rosella's caught her on one of the rare times since everyone's nightmares were brought to life that she's not with clint or checking in on him. (she's concerned about everyone, the rest of the team and others she's met since arriving on board, but she didn't see what they went through. she hasn't seen what's inside their heads.)
rosella's one of those on her list of 'to be checked on', but it seems that she's been beat to the punch. after checking, she opens the door and nods to her in greeting. ]
Hello.
[ the girl gets a subtle once over, a check for injuries or any internal damage, but on the surface, the cut on her face aside, she seems to be fine physically, which is a relief. ]
[ Rosella doesn't flinch underneath that assessment. It's not rare and it is what it is: post-mission (because that's what everything is, post or pre-op, no in-betweens, no downtimes) priorities go towards other operatives. (Alayne calls them friends. It's a strange distinction.) ]
I have been to the infirmary. [ Which is Rosella's way of saying she's— dealt with it, maybe, as opposed to the most common definition of alright. Ten fingers, ten toes. That's what counts, right? ]
You appear to be fully functional barr mental trauma, if any.
[ the assessment is standard because it's the easiest to check for, though since rosella's mentioned that she's been to medical it may have been unnecessary. mental trauma is harder to detect, people don't always wear it on their sleeves and those in their position, growing up somewhere where an imperfection could get you punished or killed, tend to make theirs invisible. so she's not expecting rosella to open up about what she may be feeling regarding the event, but it doesn't mean she won't be keeping an eye on her. ]
It's no worse than usual. [ a not quite joke, but she doubts the humor will be appreciated. ] I'm fine. Are you dealing with any?
[ mental trauma, but again: not expecting her to confess if she is. ]
No. [ A beat, and Rosella blinks owlishly. ] I did not consider the event traumatic.
[ It's difficult to tell what that means, exactly. That she's seen it before? That she doesn't care? Her weight doesn't shift, and nothing changes in the set of her face — except, maybe, the press of her tongue against her cheek. ]
It was— physically disorienting, however, and we have many civilians on-board.
[ on one level, she understands - living through something horrible once means you're more prepared, mentally and physically, if you go through it again, even if it takes you a long time to get over. if you've lived through it once, there's no reason you can't live through it again.
(that's easy enough to repeat to yourself. after a while, you start to believe it, and after you believe it it starts to become the truth. but that doesn't mean it gets easier.) ]
